Toddler Milestones 18 Months

So what are the big toddler milestones 18 months to look out for ?

Should I be concerned if my toddler has not reached some of the milestones yet ?

You can find the answer to these and many other questions right here!

I think you have probably worked out by now why children of this age are called "toddlers". Now they have just mastered the early stages of walking They toddle along with a little swing side to side. They are loving the feeedom to go where they want and they just want to go exploring everywhere.

This is the time when you definately need to watch over them every waking minute. As they can and will want to get into everthing they see around them.

So toddler safety is something you need to be conscious of and plan to make your home toddler friendly.

You can do some simple things around your home that will cost nothing but will make a huge difference. Some safety equipment will cost money to install, however fortunately it does not have to cost a fortune. I seriously recommend you take a look at the preschool safety page for some good ideas on ways to make your home child friendly.

Another of the toddler milestones 18 months is toddler language development. They will be using several words by now and such as no, go, bye bye and others. They will understand a lot more of what is being said around them.

Although they can express themselves with a few words. They still have not developed social skills such as sharing and waiting. A word they learn early is "mine" as well as "no". It can be a hard work for parents at this age as your toddler does not have control over thier emotions. They see something they want it and don't wont to wait.

Even though they are exploring more and into everything. They still wont like to left with unfamiliar people such as the new babysitter. They will probably not settle for a while in daycare either. So if you are using daycare then keep with the same one and same carer. This will help your toddler settle quicker.
