My Top 10 Parenting Tips

Take a look at my Top 10 parenting tips just below. Most are just plain old common sense, not rocket science really. Only sometimes we can't see the wood for the trees. So these could help you focus a little more on some areas you may feel lacking. Most parents start out thinking if only I could find a way to get my little one to do this or that. When in truth it's more about you the parent changing the way you do this or that. Change you actions and your child will change their reactions guaranteed.

Top 10 Parenting tips

1. Be Calm when you feel under pressure or angry is so important. Not only for your blood pressure but also to show your toddler that this is the right way to behave. It's so easy to let things upset and to start shouting. It's often the silly things that upset us the most. Such as your toddler screaming or just won't do as they are told.

2. Be Patient and don't expect too much from your toddler. They are learning so much about the world around them and they all develop at different speeds. They will sometimes just not understand what you want from them. They will sometimes seem so grown up and the next moment they will act like a baby. This is because they are often at that in between age.

3. Be Firm with your toddler when setting limits and boundaries. They need to learn not to do things that are dangerous or things that simply naughty. Young children need to know there are limits. It gives them a sense of security to know that you are in charge and will take care of them. you will find similar things in my other top 10 parenting tips.

4. Be Consistent in all areas of your toddlers life. From the time to get up to the time they go to bed. Be consistent with your toddler discipline so if they did something naughty yesterday. Then the consequences of doing the same thing today will be the same. Such as no candy or not playing a favorite game.

5. Giving Them Self Esteem and Confidence is so important for proper child development. So lots of hugs and praise for even little things they do. Playing together and encouraging them to try new things will build their confidence no end. Asking them to do things for themselves such as cleaning their own teeth and having a wash. These things make them more self reliant. Praising them for completing these task will make them feel proud.

6. Keeping Your Toddler Safe and secure is often a fairly simple job. Plan ahead and move things that could hurt your child out of reach. Preventing accidents is far easier than dealing with them afterwards. When your toddler is playing keep an eye on them. Often they can get hurt when left to their own devices. They get bored and start to explore places they should'nt. Toddlers have no sense of danger so really on you to keep them safe.

7. Setting Goals for your toddler is very important. Things like helping to put away their toys. Also learning to recognize colors and pictures. Another is rewards for good behavior. These are just a few of many goals your toddler can work towards.

8. Family Time is so important in your childs development. Spending time together and playing together shows them you like spending time with them. It gives them a sense of belonging and shows them what being part of a family means. young children love to help with all the household chores. So let them help with washing the dishes, or simply help with the dusting. Talking and listening to your child is very important. Asking them what they like and don't like. Giving them choices but not too many.

9. Setting boundaries is teaching them what's expected of them and what they can expect of you. This helps them feel safe and cared for. We all live our lives within some kind of boundaries. Those we impose on ourselves and those imposed on us by society. The boundries for your toddler will move as they learn and develop.

10. Effective communication

this is one of my most important top 10 parenting tips. Firstly going down to their level physically as in bending down or kneeling. Getting eye contact especially when they have been naughty. They will squirm around abit and try to look away. Insist they look at you when you talk to them. Never shout but speak in a firm but calm voice. Talk in simple language that they will understand.

Now for happy communication just simply chatting to your toddler sitting close by them. Simply asking them what thier favorite color is or watching tv together and talkiing about it. Playing toddler games such as counting or recognizing shaped is one of the best ways of communicating and teaching a young child. Your child learns so much from you and other family members.

I hope one or two of my Top 10 parenting tips gives you something to think about. We all learn and grow not just our children.
