Make a treasure hunt with these free toddler games

Here is a great little idea to make a treasure hunt that your toddlers will love. This is one of those FREE toddler games for when you have other toddlers over and you want to occupy the gang for a couple of hours.

So how do these kind of treasure hunt games work. Well it's a 2 part game the first being your toddlers picking which animal coloring sheet they want from the FREE printable download link at the bottom of this page.

There a 6 animal pictures to choose from. So one kind of animal per toddler, print enough to give your toddlers 3 or 4 pictures of their chosen animal. Then cut them all out by folding the sheet in half. Then folding in thirds to get your cut lines. Then you will have 6 different make a treasure hunt animals ready to color.

Now get your toddlers around a table with coloring crayons. They have to color in all the animal pictures, either all their own or mix them up. Obviously this will keep them occupied for quite a while. Then once they have finished coloring in their animal pictures. They will be ready for the second part of the birthday treasure hunt game.

Then mom needs to collect all the colored animal pictures together. These are to be the treasure hunt clues for want of a better word. Now mom has to either go and hide them around the house or garden.

Don't worry about about the kids seeing you (they will try their best to watch where you go :-)

As long as you mix up the pictures well they won't know whose picture is where. If your toddlers are very young then I suggest you hide them in plain sight. If they are a little older then you can hide them away a little better.

Next gather your toddlers together and give them a small basket or play bucket each. Tell them they have to go and find their animal pictures and only their animal pictures. If they find someone elses then they need to leave it where they found it.

When they find their animal picture they must put it their basket or bucket. then go and look for their next picture until they have found them all. Finally the first child back to mom with all pictures is the winner.

The winner receives the star prize (mom to decide) then the remaining children receive a runners up prize each (again mom to decide). This is one of those so simple kindergarden games that costs absolutely nothing but your children will love to play make a treasure hunt time and again. Believe me when I tell you this will keep them occupied for a couple of hours with only a little bit of supervision on your part.
